Solo Stove and Boys & Girls Club Launch Outdoor Initiative

Seventy-three percent of children report they would spend more time outdoors if they had a companion to join them. To bridge this gap, Solo Stove is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster for Project S'More Outdoors, an initiative designed to trade screen time for fire-side mentorship.

The collaboration kicks off with a dedicated day at Camp Hogan, where children will receive instruction on outdoor skills, fire safety, and campfire cooking. Solo Stove is providing participating families with portable cooking stoves and accessory kits, aiming to extend these outdoor habits beyond the summer program. The initiative stems from internal research conducted by the fire pit manufacturer, which found that 66% of parents believe outdoor fire-side time strengthens family bonds.

John Larson, CEO of Solo Brands, noted that the program focuses on the social utility of their products rather than just the hardware. Karen Schloer, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, highlighted that the partnership enhances their existing summer programming, which serves nearly 4,000 youth annually. Throughout July, the company is also expanding discount programs for military members, teachers, and medical professionals to encourage further participation in outdoor activities.
