The core of the 6.2 update is the Intelligent Root System (IRS) Gold, which provides 3D visualizations of cortical and cancellous bone, maxillary sinuses, and airway structures. By integrating this anatomical data with color mapping, practitioners can move beyond basic gingival AI, allowing for more precise root positioning within the bone. Dr. Sandy Bigman, a user of the system, noted that this diagnostic depth enables a move toward single-tooth movement planning that was previously difficult to achieve with standard digital models.
Beyond diagnostics, the release tackles clinical workflow with a redesigned prescription form and new trimline options. Doctors can now specify Standard, Full-Arch High, or Posterior-Only trimlines directly during the prescription phase. This flexibility extends into the approval stage, where clinicians can adjust or upgrade their selections without needing to restart the planning process. The 3D interface has also been reorganized, relocating modification tools—such as occlusal plane and arch adjustments—to the top-right of the viewport to streamline case reviews. These changes, according to Brandy Long, Head of Clinical Operations for North America, were driven by direct feedback from orthodontists seeking to treat a broader range of case complexities.
