Alex Shannon Named National Director of Water at Michael Baker International

Alex Shannon has joined engineering firm Michael Baker International as National Director – Water, tasked with spearheading the company's national expansion and infrastructure strategy. Based in Pittsburgh, Shannon will oversee project delivery and technical innovation for municipal, state, and private-sector clients across the water, wastewater, and stormwater markets.

Shannon arrives with a mandate to drive business growth and modernize aging infrastructure. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and West Region Water Leader at WSP USA, where he managed portfolios involving billions of dollars in capital investment. His background also includes significant leadership roles at HDR and Jacobs, focusing on organizational transformation and the development of financial planning tools for utilities.

Kevin Reed, Chief Operating Officer at Michael Baker, noted that Shannon’s track record in operational leadership will be critical in enhancing the firm’s resilience-focused solutions. Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Shannon is a regular contributor to industry forums on infrastructure technology and is an active member of the American Water Works Association. He holds degrees in Economics and International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound.
