The device operates across a bandwidth from DC to 1.6MHz, capturing magnetic field amplitudes ranging from 0.1 to 2 Gauss. By utilizing MDT’s proprietary Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, the probe maintains sensitivity to low-level signals while providing the high-speed response required to visualize transient events that traditional instruments often miss. Its standard BNC analog output allows direct integration with oscilloscopes and data acquisition systems, simplifying the workflow for technicians in the field.
Practical utility drives the HFM2905’s design, which includes selectable gain settings—ranging from 1x to 20x—and adjustable low-pass filters at 1kHz, 100kHz, and 1.6MHz. Powered entirely by a USB connection, the unit eliminates the need for bulky external power supplies. MDT also includes a dedicated calibration fixture featuring a precision stripline and current transformer to ensure measurement traceability for users working in motor drive analysis, EMI/EMC debugging, and switching power supply design.
