Safety Products Global Unveils Standardized Cutting System for Food Safety

Food manufacturers often overlook cutting tools when drafting HACCP safety plans, leaving a dangerous gap between policy and daily operation. Safety Products Global is addressing this disconnect with its new FoodProtect series, a unified platform that standardizes safety cutters across the entire production line to mitigate contamination risks.

The Irvine-based company has integrated its Klever, PHC, and Slice brands into a single portfolio featuring 22 NSF-certified and metal-detectable units. By consolidating these tools, the system targets the three hazard categories defined under HACCP protocols: biological, chemical, and physical. The series incorporates KLEEN antimicrobial protection and metal-detectable materials, allowing facilities to document these implements as formal preventative controls.

Beyond contamination, the system aims to curb workplace injuries, which remain a significant financial and operational burden. With lacerations accounting for 30% of workplace incidents—often carrying costs of $46,000 per claim—the series utilizes concealed-blade designs to minimize exposure. Key innovations include the Klever ExcelXD MD, a metal-detectable cutter featuring proprietary Smooth-Kut technology for heavy-duty corrugate, and a specialized coil lanyard designed to prevent tool loss on the production floor. The entire suite is currently available through the company’s global distribution network.
