B. Braun Launches First Generic Sugammadex Injection in U.S.

A generic alternative to the anesthesia reversal agent Bridion is coming to American hospitals on July 28, 2026. The FDA has granted approval to B. Braun Medical Inc. for its Sugammadex Injection, marking the company’s first entry into the U.S. market with a generic pharmaceutical vial.

The new 200 mg/2 mL injection serves as an AP-rated equivalent designed to reverse neuromuscular blockade caused by rocuronium bromide. Clinical data suggests this formulation offers a faster recovery time than neostigmine, with a lower incidence of adverse events. B. Braun expects the single-dose vials to provide a stable, cost-effective supply chain for acute care facilities, which have long relied on the branded version of the drug.

Jeremy Greene, Senior Director of Pharma Marketing at B. Braun, noted that the launch is part of a broader strategy to bolster the company’s portfolio of essential injectable medications. By introducing this generic option, the Bethlehem-based manufacturer aims to alleviate supply pressures for anesthesia providers while reducing costs for healthcare systems. The product will feature a 24-month shelf life from the date of its release.
