Setting the Standard for Commercial Cleanliness

Determining the ideal cleaning frequency for a commercial property requires balancing foot traffic, building function, and health safety. Nancy Kennedy, owner of Right Way Cleaning LLC, argues that a structured maintenance schedule is the only way to protect a business’s professional image while managing long-term infrastructure costs.

High-traffic zones like entryways and restrooms demand daily attention to prevent the accumulation of dirt and germs. In the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire, where seasonal weather often tracks debris indoors, consistent lobby maintenance is essential for both safety and first impressions. Restrooms, meanwhile, require rigorous daily care to mitigate odors and prevent the spread of pathogens that could compromise a workplace environment.

Office spaces and conference rooms generally operate on a different timeline. Kennedy suggests that weekly cycles—focusing on dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing shared equipment—are typically sufficient to sustain productivity. Floor care and glass maintenance should be scaled according to material type and usage, with hallways needing more frequent intervention than private suites. Beyond routine upkeep, periodic deep cleaning remains necessary to address neglected surfaces and extend the lifespan of building materials. For specialized areas like medical suites or cafeterias, strict adherence to health regulations dictates a customized, high-frequency approach.
