Halliburton signaled robust sector health, reporting second-quarter profits of $534 million, up from $472 million a year prior. The Houston-based firm saw revenue growth across both its North American and international operations, reflecting resilient demand for oil-field services despite the broader instability. Consolidation activity also accelerated: Norway’s Var Energi moved to acquire BlueNord in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $1.3 billion.

Elsewhere, institutional pressures are reshaping the industrial landscape. Norges Bank Investment Management, overseer of Norway's $2.3 trillion sovereign-wealth fund, has formally requested that logistics giants Prologis and Segro initiate merger discussions. Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is pressing forward with a $6.2 billion offshore gas project in the United Arab Emirates. This commitment underscores a firm long-term bet on gas consumption, even as regional conflict exposes critical vulnerabilities in the global supply chain.
