The airport, which serves more than 30 million passengers annually, requires constant oversight of complex systems including HVAC, central utility plants, and electrical grids. By partnering with Interplay Learning, the facility now provides its workforce with interactive troubleshooting scenarios. These digital simulations allow technicians to practice repairs on equipment like variable frequency drives and centrifugal pumps in a controlled environment before addressing physical hardware.

Gregory Phillips, the airport’s chief operating officer, noted that the move is designed to sustain internal technical capability and ensure consistent training across all experience levels. The program covers a broad curriculum, ranging from foundational technical skills for new hires to advanced building automation refreshers for long-term staff. The platform is currently being deployed across all airport locations, including the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, to streamline onboarding and ongoing professional certification.
