Sally Beauty Targets Gen Z with Campus-Based COLORfest Tour

Sally Beauty is taking its COLORfest campaign directly to college quads this August, partnering with Her Campus Media to reach Gen Z students. Following a successful spring pop-up in Los Angeles, the retail chain plans a five-stop campus tour across Florida, Alabama, and Texas to promote DIY beauty.

The initiative aims to position professional-grade hair and nail products as accessible tools for students, removing the need for salon visits. Starting August 18, the free events will offer hands-on product discovery, expert consultations, and gift bags valued at over $100. Beauty professionals including Monae Everett, Gregory Patterson, and Juli Russell will be on-site to provide guidance to attendees.

Beyond the campus tour, Sally Beauty is launching a nationwide campaign on July 31 featuring hundreds of new products from brands like Arctic Fox, OPI, and IGK. The retailer is also diversifying its inventory by exclusively introducing the UK-based skincare line Q+A to the U.S. market. According to Chief Marketing Officer Chris Kobus, the expansion reflects a shift toward experiential education, designed to help younger consumers experiment with identity through hair, nail, and skincare solutions.
