Paccar Outperforms Earnings Estimates Despite Truck Delivery Dip

Paccar navigated a softening in global vehicle deliveries to post a second-quarter net income of $752 million, or $1.43 per share. The results comfortably surpassed analyst expectations of $1.34 a share, even as the manufacturer faced a slight decline in volume across its North American truck segment.

Paccar Outperforms Earnings Estimates Despite Truck Delivery Dip

Net sales and revenue reached $7 billion for the period, marginally higher than the $6.96 billion recorded a year earlier, though slightly trailing the $7.05 billion projected by Wall Street. Total consolidated revenue hit $7.55 billion. The company delivered 38,700 trucks globally, down from 39,300 units in the same quarter last year, reflecting a specific contraction in the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Chief Executive Preston Feight attributed the performance to robust order volumes and improved freight rates, which allowed the company to boost build rates throughout the quarter. Looking ahead, Paccar anticipates U.S. and Canada Class 8 retail sales to settle between 230,000 and 270,000 units for 2026. Chief Technology Officer John Rich noted that an aging fleet sector is driving demand, as operators seek to replace older equipment with more fuel-efficient models to capitalize on constrained industry freight capacity.
