The 2024 growing season presented a distinct climatic profile for the Castello Pomino estate. Following a mild winter, the region experienced some of the warmest summer temperatures recorded in Tuscany. Despite the heat, the estate's sandy soils and consistent water reserves allowed the vines to maintain balance, ensuring the grapes reached maturity without sacrificing the acidity essential for the wine's signature profile.
Crafted to reflect the specific character of the Pomino terroir, the harvest was conducted by hand to ensure fruit integrity. The grapes underwent gentle pressing before fermentation in French oak barriques, split evenly between new and first-fill barrels. The wine spent time on its lees with periodic bâtonnage, a process intended to build texture and complexity. The final result is a straw-yellow wine defined by mineral and citrus aromatics, layered with notes of white flowers and honey, culminating in the savory finish that has characterized the Benefizio Riserva since its 1973 debut.
