Glenmark Enters U.S. Sugammadex Market to Challenge $1.6 Billion Brand

With annual sales for the reference drug reaching $1.6 billion, the U.S. injectables market faces a new competitor as Glenmark Pharmaceuticals launches its generic Sugammadex Injection. The rollout aims to capture a significant share of the hospital segment by providing a therapeutically equivalent alternative to Merck’s established product.

The new medication, available in 200 mg/2 mL and 500 mg/5 mL single-dose vials, is bioequivalent to the reference listed drug, Bridion. According to IQVIA sales data for the period ending May 2026, the market for this specific therapeutic agent commands a substantial $1.6 billion in annual revenue, highlighting the scale of the commercial opportunity for the New Jersey-based subsidiary of the global pharmaceutical firm.

Marc Kikuchi, President and Business Head of North America at Glenmark, noted that the product’s Day 1 launch demonstrates the company’s internal execution discipline and its focus on expanding the U.S. hospital and institutional portfolio. The company emphasizes that while the product matches the reference drug’s potency, it will be marketed exclusively for the specific indications outlined in Glenmark’s own approved labeling.
