Generac Stock Surges on $1.6 Billion Data-Center Backlog

Generac shares climbed nearly 10% in premarket trading after the backup power provider reported a massive influx of orders from hyperscale data-center operators. The company’s specialized backlog has ballooned to approximately $1.6 billion, signaling a significant shift in demand for its industrial-scale generation hardware.

Generac Stock Surges on $1.6 Billion Data-Center Backlog

The company’s latest financial report highlights a sharp increase in profitability, with second-quarter earnings reaching $143.2 million, or $2.40 a share. This figure nearly doubles the $74 million profit recorded during the same period last year. When adjusted for one-time items, earnings hit $2.91 a share, comfortably outpacing the $2.01 consensus estimate from FactSet analysts.

Driving this momentum is a $1 billion surge in new orders secured since the previous reporting cycle. Generac finalized product terms for $700 million in 2027 volume with one major hyperscaler and signed a separate global agreement with a second provider. With the stock already up 43% year-to-date, these commitments provide a clear runway for sustained growth as the company pivots deeper into the infrastructure supporting global cloud computing.
