The collaboration places OtterBox branding on the Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra, the vehicle engineered by the team at their Carson, California facility. For the crew, the partnership addresses the physical realities of professional drifting, where mobile devices serve as critical tools for real-time communication, technical data exchange, and social media content creation. Aasbo, the series' most decorated driver with three championship titles, noted that the team’s phones are constant companions from the garage to the starting line, often subjected to the same harsh conditions as the competition cars.
OtterBox CEO Trey Northrup emphasized that the move aligns with the company’s focus on reliability in extreme environments. Papadakis Racing, which holds a record five overall championships and ten manufacturer titles, will feature the brand across its competition and digital channels. By providing ruggedized protection for the team’s hardware, OtterBox aims to ensure that the rapid-response demands of a race weekend remain uninterrupted by equipment failure.
