H.I.G. Capital Exits Enterprise Tech Firm ECI

Global investment firm H.I.G. Capital has finalized the sale of ECI, a managed services provider catering to the alternative investment sector, to Wind Point Partners. The divestment marks the end of a strategic tenure during which the New York-based technology company pivoted toward cybersecurity, GRC, and AI-driven operations.

Under H.I.G.’s ownership, ECI evolved into a security-first platform, expanding its service footprint across the U.S., UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The company now supports more than 630 clients in 37 countries, backed by a workforce of 775 professionals operating from eight global data centers. A central pillar of this growth was the development of ELLA, an AI-powered engine designed to streamline both internal workflows and client-facing technology solutions.

ECI Chief Executive Officer Jeff Schmidt credited the partnership with providing the necessary capital and operational focus to penetrate adjacent regulated markets. John Von Bargen, Managing Director at H.I.G., noted that the sale reflects the success of the firm’s strategy in pairing management expertise with innovation in cybersecurity. Financial advisory for the transaction was provided by Baird and Guggenheim Partners, with King & Spalding LLP acting as legal counsel.
