Tyra Biosciences Targets 2026 Milestone for Bladder Cancer Drug Data

Tyra Biosciences will present initial clinical data from its SURF302 study in September, marking a critical step for the company’s lead drug candidate, dabogratinib. The oral therapy is currently being evaluated as a potential treatment for intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, a condition often requiring lifelong surgical intervention.

The Carlsbad-based biotechnology firm reported a net loss of $45.6 million for the second quarter of 2026, up from $28.1 million during the same period last year. This increase in expenditure reflects the company's aggressive development schedule, particularly the expansion of its clinical trials for oral dabogratinib. With $353.9 million in cash and marketable securities, the company maintains a financial runway extending into the second half of 2028.

Beyond bladder cancer, Tyra is advancing its BEACH301 study for achondroplasia. The Data Safety Monitoring Committee has authorized a fifth dose level following favorable safety results in earlier cohorts. To bolster its leadership in skeletal dysplasia, the company recently appointed Jonathan Day as Executive Vice President of Clinical Development. Day, who previously led R&D for skeletal conditions at BioMarin, will oversee the strategic direction of these programs as the company works toward its goal of commercializing dabogratinib across three distinct indications.
