The initiative, dubbed the AI Transformation Package, mirrors the forward-deployed engineering models currently utilized by tech giants like Microsoft and OpenAI. Rather than relying on generalist IT support, Datarails assigns a Forward Deployed Financial Engineer (FDFE) to work within a client’s existing FinanceOS environment. The goal is to bypass lengthy, resource-heavy implementation projects that often stall in the CFO’s office.
CEO Didi Gurfinkel argues that the complexity of financial data makes generalist engineering insufficient. By placing experts with deep institutional finance experience inside the team, the company aims to ensure that AI outputs from models like Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT remain governed, auditable, and repeatable. The engagement follows a structured four-phase model—Discover, Build, Deploy, and Evolve—requiring a commitment of 25 hours per quarter to move from concept to a live production workflow.
