Royer Acquires Baffin to Consolidate Canadian Footwear Expertise

After decades under Canada Goose, Baffin is moving to the Quebec-based Royer Group. The acquisition, finalized August 5, 2026, unites two domestic manufacturing giants while marking a generational shift for the Stoney Creek-based footwear brand as founder Paul Hubner steps down after 45 years.

Baffin will now operate as Baffin Footwear Inc. within the Royer portfolio, maintaining its existing leadership team, workforce, and operational headquarters in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Mark Hubner steps into the role of Managing Director to oversee the transition, ensuring continuity for retail partners and industrial clients who rely on the brand’s specialized, cold-weather engineering.

Royer, a firm with roots dating back to 1934, brings significant manufacturing capacity to the partnership. By integrating Baffin’s expertise in technical outdoor and industrial gear with its own industrial-sector footprint, Royer aims to scale the brand's reach while preserving the design values established by the Hubner family since 1979. Both companies emphasized that the deal focuses on long-term investment rather than restructuring, promising no immediate changes to product lines or service standards.
