eBay Reports Revenue Growth and Closes Depop Acquisition

eBay posted $3.1 billion in second-quarter revenue for 2026, marking a 15% increase as the company finalized its $1.4 billion acquisition of fashion marketplace Depop. The results underscore a period of expansion for the global commerce platform, bolstered by record engagement in its live shopping segment and a stronger outlook for the remainder of the year.

CEO Jamie Iannone attributed the performance to broad-based momentum across the company's strategic roadmap, highlighting that the business successfully balanced innovation with disciplined execution. Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) reached $22.4 billion, reflecting a 15% year-over-year rise. This growth was supported by the expansion of the Authenticity Guarantee program, which now covers over 100 fashion brands, and the continued success of AI-powered tools like the Magical Listing feature.

Financial discipline remained a priority throughout the quarter, with the company generating $549 million in operating cash flow. Shareholders received $448 million in capital returns, split between $310 million in share repurchases and $138 million in cash dividends. Looking ahead, CFO Peggy Alford signaled confidence in the platform’s trajectory by raising the company’s full-year guidance. For the third quarter of 2026, eBay anticipates revenue between $3.07 billion and $3.12 billion, as it integrates Depop into its circular fashion portfolio to capture a younger, highly engaged demographic.
