Heritage Insurance Posts Record $61.7 Million Quarterly Profit

Heritage Insurance Holdings reported record net income of $61.7 million for the second quarter of 2026, a 28.5% increase over the same period last year. The Tampa-based insurer’s performance was bolstered by lower weather-related losses, favorable prior-year loss development, and improved investment income from a growing asset base.

The company’s diluted earnings per share rose to $2.05, up from $1.55 in the second quarter of 2025. Total revenue reached $214.2 million, a 3% increase driven by higher net premiums earned and a robust investment portfolio. Heritage also saw a significant improvement in its net combined ratio, which tightened by 8 percentage points to 64.9%, signaling stronger underwriting efficiency.

CEO Ernie Garateix attributed the results to a multi-year shift toward profitability and balance sheet resilience. Despite a competitive landscape in Florida, the firm has begun expanding into Texas on an excess and surplus lines basis. Heritage continues to prioritize capital management, repurchasing over one million shares year-to-date and maintaining a $37.4 million balance on its current buyback authorization. While the company has suspended quarterly dividends to focus on growth, management indicated that the current stock valuation fails to capture the durability of their recent financial gains.
