BCE Reports Q2 2026 Results Amid Heavy Data Center Investment

BCE Inc. reported a 1.5% increase in consolidated revenue to $6.18 billion for the second quarter of 2026, even as the telecom giant grapples with a 9.5% dip in free cash flow driven by an aggressive 41.5% hike in capital expenditures to fund new AI data centers and U.S. fiber expansion.

The company’s financial performance reflects a strategic pivot toward infrastructure-heavy growth. While consolidated revenue climbed, net earnings fell 2.3% to $629 million, impacted by rising depreciation, interest costs, and taxes. Adjusted EBITDA saw a modest 1.0% gain to $2.7 billion, aided by the integration of Ziply Fiber, which was acquired last August.

Operational highlights center on the company’s push into AI and fiber connectivity. Bell added nearly 55,000 residential fiber-to-the-home internet subscribers and saw a 29% revenue surge in its Ateko and Bell Cyber divisions. Meanwhile, Bell Media outperformed expectations, with revenue rising 8.9% behind strong Crave subscription growth and FIFA World Cup 2026 viewership. Despite these gains, the company faces ongoing competitive pressure in the Canadian wireless market and a cooling effect from limited population growth, which contributed to a decline in prepaid subscriber activations.
