Industry Veterans Launch APA to Disrupt Corporate Event Production

Moving away from the industry’s long-standing reliance on massive hardware inventories, veterans Matthew Carson and Stephen Henric have launched APA in Orlando. Their new firm prioritizes independent, executive-level consulting over equipment-heavy business models, aiming to provide corporate event teams with more agile and objective technical leadership.

The traditional production model, which favored vertical integration and massive warehouse capacity, has struggled to keep pace with modern business demands for flexibility. By positioning themselves as an embedded extension of a client’s internal team, Carson and Henric intend to shift the focus toward specialized human expertise. The company offers services spanning production design, show engineering, and resource procurement, specifically designed to remain supplier-neutral rather than pushing internal inventory.

Carson, whose background includes leadership roles at The FX Group, PRG, and AVFX, argues that modern success is no longer defined by physical assets. He is joined by Henric, a strategist with nearly two decades of experience at firms including Freeman and PRG. Together, they are betting that corporations will increasingly favor adaptability over scale. According to Henric, the firm was built to lead projects rather than simply sell production services, allowing them to assemble custom teams tailored to the unique technical challenges of each event.
