Vermont and Boston Top Lovehoney’s Interactive Sex Map

Vermont has quietly emerged as the nation’s most adventurous state, leading all others in sex toy purchases over the past year. This finding comes from a new interactive map released by retailer Lovehoney, which tracks intimate shopping trends across the United States to reveal how desire varies by region.

The data, gathered from 12 months of sales, highlights a shift in sexual wellness habits beyond major metropolitan hubs. While Vermont claims the top spot for overall toy volume, Boston, Massachusetts, ranks as the sexiest city, showing a particular affinity for bondage gear. The map allows users to compare cities head-to-head, uncovering distinct regional preferences that range from roleplay trends in New York to condom sizing habits in Badger, Minnesota.

Jo Connarty, Lovehoney’s global PR lead, described the project as a way to visualize the diversity of personal expression. The scale of the market is substantial; the company reports that its dildo sales alone over the last year, if placed end-to-end, would reach the height of 120 Statues of Liberty. Other notable findings include Arlington, Virginia, as the leader in bondage purchases and Fairfax, Virginia, as the hub for lingerie sales.
