Universal Music Group deployed €51.4 million to repurchase 3.3 million of its own shares during the opening days of August. This aggressive move marks the initial phase of a newly authorized €250 million buyback program, as the company seeks to consolidate equity following its latest capital allocation strategy announced this week.

Between August 6 and August 7, 2026, the Hilversum-based music giant acquired 3,349,000 shares at an average price of €15.36 per unit. The transaction, conducted on the Euronext exchange, represents approximately 20 percent of the total capital earmarked for the current buyback initiative.

The company maintains a standing disclosure policy for these operations, providing weekly aggregate updates via its investor relations portal to satisfy EU Market Abuse Regulation requirements. This repurchase activity aligns with UMG's broader financial strategy to manage its capital structure while continuing to invest in its global catalog of recorded music and publishing assets.
