By deploying distributed energy assets like ON-765 West, PowerBank seeks to inject capacity directly into local distribution levels. This approach avoids the bottlenecks often associated with large-scale, centralized power facilities, which frequently encounter lengthy permitting and interconnection delays.
Financial viability for the project is supported by the Canadian federal government’s Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit. This incentive offers eligible companies a refundable credit of up to 30% of capital costs for qualifying solar and storage equipment. PowerBank, which maintains a development pipeline exceeding 1 gigawatt, must now navigate preliminary assessments and site permitting. While the company leverages its experience with over 100 megawatts of completed projects, executives noted that final delivery remains subject to regulatory approvals, financing availability, and the potential for shifts in government energy policy.
