The forum, organized by the Halley Movement and recognized by the United Nations IGF Secretariat, brought together government officials, industry leaders, and civil society to address the challenges facing digital economies. Glenn Tan, Director of Global Affairs at BGA, highlighted that for small island nations, robust digital identity and security frameworks are not merely technical requirements but essential pillars of sustainable development. Bybit’s Global Head of Policy, Mykolas Majauskas, emphasized the necessity of aligning responsible innovation with sound government policy.

During the event, representatives from BGA and Bybit met with Vice President Jean Yvan Robert Hungley, Minister of Information Technology Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, and Minister of Public Service Raj Pentiah. These discussions focused on how Mauritius can utilize emerging technologies to scale its digital ambitions. Mahendranath Busgopaul, founder of the Mauritius IGF, noted that the inclusion of global partners in these discussions is vital for building a secure economic environment. The initiative underscores a growing effort to ensure that small nations are positioned as leaders in the adoption of secure, transparent blockchain solutions.
