The recognition, presented annually by Great Place To Work and PEOPLE magazine, evaluates organizations based on their support for employees, families, and local communities. Veterans United, which employs approximately 4,900 people across 20 states, currently stands as the highest-ranked Missouri-based company on the 2026 list. More than 2,900 of these staff members are based in the company's Columbia and Jefferson City offices.

Chief People Officer Amanda Andrade credited the firm’s workforce for the achievement, noting that the culture is defined by integrity and a commitment to serving both homebuyers and the community. The selection process involved analyzing over 1.3 million confidential employee survey responses, focusing on 60 specific experience metrics. To qualify, organizations must maintain Great Place To Work Certification and submit detailed essays demonstrating their impact, which are then validated against internal data.
