TransPerfect Integrates LiveTMF to Automate Clinical Compliance

Clinical trial teams often struggle with static document lists that fail to reflect evolving study protocols, leading to manual reconciliation gaps. TransPerfect is addressing this by integrating Virtual Data Corp’s LiveTMF engine into its Trial Interactive platform, marking the first time an eTMF provider has offered native predictive compliance intelligence.

Traditionally, expected document lists function as a one-time configuration, becoming obsolete as study sites activate or protocols shift. This misalignment forces teams to manually reconcile data, usually under the pressure of upcoming inspections. The LiveTMF engine shifts this approach by mapping study structures—including investigators, ethics committees, and institutional review boards—against regulatory requirements and sponsor standard operating procedures. When study events occur, the system automatically recalculates the document list, distinguishing between missing files and those blocked by unmet dependencies.

Michael Smyth, Division President of TransPerfect Life Sciences Solutions, noted that the integration emphasizes intelligence over manual configuration, allowing the document list to evolve alongside the study. Jordan Ellington, founder of Virtual Data Corp, described the previous industry standard as a modeling failure rather than a configuration issue, asserting that the new engine builds a list based on actual trial activity. The tool is designed to function alongside any eTMF provider without requiring system migration or revalidation, with general availability scheduled for Q4 2026.
