The subsequent earthquake in Colombia on August 10 has further strained resources, prompting the restaurant chain to leverage its national footprint for aid. Customers can participate by mentioning the fundraiser at checkout in any participating store.
Direct Relief has already committed 11 tons of medical supplies and $400,000 in emergency grants to the affected areas. Karla Patino, vice president of marketing and sales at Pollo Campero, noted that the initiative aims to provide the sustained support necessary for families facing a lengthy recovery process. Jennifer Lotito, chief external affairs officer at Direct Relief, emphasized that the partnership serves as a vital bridge between corporate resources and humanitarian needs. The campaign reflects a broader effort to maintain visibility for the ongoing crisis among the U.S. Hispanic community.
