Houthis Strike Saudi Aramco’s Jazan Refinery for Third Time

Yemen-based Houthi forces launched a drone strike against the Jazan oil refinery on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast this Tuesday, marking the third assault on the facility in just two weeks. The attack intensifies regional tensions as diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran remain stalled.

Houthis Strike Saudi Aramco’s Jazan Refinery for Third Time

Military representatives for the Houthi movement claimed their drones hit the site with precision, citing the move as retaliation for alleged airspace violations over the Saada and Hajjah governorates. Saudi authorities have yet to issue a confirmation regarding the damage or operational status of the 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery.

This recurring pattern of hostility has disrupted the regional energy landscape. Following previous strikes, Saudi Arabia shifted oil export routes from Yanbu toward the Mediterranean port of Sidi Kerir. Vessel owners are increasingly avoiding the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, leading some Asian refiners to request cargo pickups further north to bypass the volatile Red Sea corridor. The persistent threat to infrastructure underscores the growing security risks facing global fuel flows.
