Future Standard Bets on Infrastructure with KDC Stake

Future Standard, the $94 billion global alternative asset manager, has acquired a minority stake in KDC, a specialized infrastructure firm co-founded by Future Standard CEO Edwin Conway. The partnership aims to unlock direct investment opportunities in the capital-intensive sectors of data, energy security, and advanced manufacturing.

The deal targets the so-called "missing middle" of infrastructure—projects that have outgrown venture capital but remain too operationally complex for traditional infrastructure funds. By integrating KDC’s development and engineering expertise with Future Standard’s capital-raising reach, the firms intend to bridge the gap between technical potential and commercial scale. Future Standard holds an option to eventually acquire a controlling interest in the venture.

KDC brings four decades of experience from the Kamine family, whose background spans power generation and telecommunications. For Future Standard, the move follows a series of strategic expansions, including the 2025 acquisition of Post Road Group and the integration of Portfolio Advisors. The collaboration is designed to provide institutional and private wealth clients with access to projects that require hands-on management to survive the transition from development to full-scale deployment.
