Hivelocity Targets Resellers and Developers with Tiered Hosting

Tampa-based infrastructure provider Hivelocity is realigning its hosting strategy to capture growth among resellers, managed service providers, and developers. By bifurcating its virtual offerings into VPS and VDS categories, the company aims to provide a unified platform that balances cost-efficiency with the demand for predictable, high-performance compute resources.

The strategy centers on a two-tier model designed to simplify procurement for agencies and businesses juggling multiple infrastructure needs. The Virtual Private Server (VPS) tier focuses on cost-sensitive projects, such as testing environments, development work, and high-volume reseller deployments. Conversely, the Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) tier offers unshared CPU and RAM, specifically targeting resource-heavy e-commerce and SaaS applications that require consistent output.

Ned Pope, Chief Product Officer at Hivelocity, noted that the goal is to provide predictable performance without forcing customers to juggle multiple vendors. Because both virtual tiers integrate with Hivelocity’s existing bare-metal and dedicated infrastructure, users can automate deployments and scale their operations as demand fluctuates. This approach allows firms to mix and match hosting types within a single ecosystem, effectively bridging the gap between basic virtual hosting and enterprise-grade dedicated hardware.
