Universal Music Group Nears Completion of €250 Million Buyback

Universal Music Group has accelerated its capital return strategy, repurchasing over 2.7 million shares during the week ending August 21. The latest transaction phase, valued at approximately €41.9 million, brings the company significantly closer to exhausting its current €250 million buyback authorization announced earlier this month.

The music giant acquired exactly 2,788,648 shares between August 17 and August 21 at an average price of €15.01 per share. Since the program’s inception on August 6, the company has aggressively consolidated its equity, retiring 15,586,984 shares for a cumulative expenditure of €235,787,215. These maneuvers are executed under the regulatory framework of the EU Market Abuse Regulation, which mandates transparent disclosure of such capital operations. The remaining balance of the program suggests the current buyback cycle will conclude shortly, barring any shifts in market conditions or corporate strategy.
