AMD Taps Former Salesforce Executive Ariel Kelman as CMO

Kelman brings a deep bench of enterprise tech experience to the Santa Clara-based chipmaker. Before joining AMD, he served as president and chief marketing officer at Salesforce. His resume also includes high-level leadership roles at industry heavyweights Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Oracle, positioning him as a seasoned strategist in the cloud and software sectors.

Strengthening the AI Narrative

The move comes as AMD pivots aggressively toward the lucrative AI and data center markets, challenging rivals in a rapidly shifting hardware landscape. According to Chief Administrative Officer Ruth Cotter, Kelman’s leadership is expected to sharpen the company's storytelling and accelerate its momentum across several key verticals.

AMD is currently prioritizing the delivery of high-performance solutions across its primary business units:

    • Data center and AI infrastructure
    • Embedded and client computing
    • Gaming and consumer hardware
The appointment highlights AMD's intent to translate its technical gains into a more dominant brand presence. By recruiting a veteran with experience at both AWS and Salesforce, the company aims to better communicate its value proposition to enterprise clients who are increasingly focused on AI-driven hardware and high-efficiency computing.
