TestMu 2026: Scaling Autonomous Quality in the Age of AI Agents

With over 75,000 registrations and 145 speakers, the fifth annual TestMu Conference signaled a definitive shift in software development. As AI agents increasingly manage complex engineering workloads, the summit focused on transitioning from experimental pilots to production-grade autonomous systems that prioritize rigorous verification and trust.

The three-day virtual event brought together engineering leaders from Microsoft, Meta, Replit, and Databricks to address the practical realities of agentic engineering. Discussions centered on three critical imperatives: embedding trust through continuous validation, establishing governance for mission-critical delivery, and cultivating the human expertise required to supervise AI coworkers. According to CEO and Co-Founder Asad Khan, the industry has officially moved past the theoretical stage of AI adoption, focusing instead on responsible, scalable engineering practices.

Sessions featured insights from industry veterans including Microsoft’s Francesca Lazzeri and Dona Sarkar, alongside technical leaders from Glean and Hinge Health. As autonomous systems take on more of the development lifecycle, the consensus among attendees was clear: the quality of software will soon be defined by the robustness of the AI-driven gates and observability frameworks surrounding it. Following the event's conclusion, TestMu AI confirmed the next iteration of the summit is scheduled for August 24-26, 2027.
