The expansion marks a strategic shift for the service, which specializes in the 'Golden Age' of animation. By integrating iconic TV series and feature films into its subscription video-on-demand app, the platform aims to bridge the gap for long-time enthusiasts looking to revisit classic arcs while introducing these storied properties to a new generation of viewers.
The incoming library spans diverse genres, ranging from the supernatural stakes of BLEACH: Hell Verse and Hunter X Hunter: Phantom Rouge to the competitive sports drama of Captain Tsubasa. Other additions include the psychological mystery of Vampire Knight and the virtual reality narrative of Accel World. Matt Kodner, Programming Manager for RetroCrush, noted that the partnership provides a unique opportunity to revitalize interest in VIZ Media’s deep catalog, highlighting both established blockbusters and lesser-known gems. The content is slated for release on the RetroCrush app, which currently hosts over 200 series and films across various digital and linear distribution channels.
