The scholarship seeks individuals who reflect the service-oriented principles of Dr. Steven Shannon, a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction.

Dr. Shannon, an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada School of Medicine, established this fund to assist students entering the demanding medical profession. Completed applications must be submitted by April 15, 2027. A winner will be selected and announced on May 15, 2027.
