Alibaba Investors Face October Deadline in Securities Fraud Lawsuit

Investors who incurred financial losses holding Alibaba Group Holding Limited stock between June 2025 and June 2026 have until October 5 to petition for lead plaintiff status. The Law Offices of Frank R. Cruz is spearheading the class action litigation regarding allegations of misleading corporate disclosures.

The complaint centers on claims that Alibaba management failed to disclose critical affiliations with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to the court filing, this relationship triggered classifications under the National Defense Authorization Act, labeling the company as a Chinese military entity. Prosecutors further allege that the firm downplayed the severity of distillation attacks against third-party AI models, presenting them as hypothetical risks when they were, in fact, active operations. These omissions allegedly rendered the company’s public statements regarding its business prospects materially deceptive throughout the specified period. Shareholders are not required to take immediate action to remain members of the class, though they may choose to retain independent counsel or file for lead status before the upcoming October deadline.
