The company is halting internal development of its allogeneic CAR T-cell therapies, lasme-cel and eti-cel. Management cited intensifying competition and evolving treatment standards in second and third-line settings as the primary drivers for this exit. In their place, the firm will concentrate resources on two lead candidates: HEAL-101, which targets the APOC3 gene, and HEAL-201, an epigenetic product aimed at the PCSK9 gene promoter.
Cellectis intends to launch a phase 1 investigator-initiated trial for HEAL-101 in China, with preliminary data anticipated in the second half of 2027. Clinical results for HEAL-201 are expected to follow in the first half of 2028. By streamlining its research efforts, the company expects to extend its cash runway through late 2028, securing the financial stability required to pursue these new clinical objectives and maintain existing corporate partnerships.
