U.S. Grain Export Shifts: Soybean and Wheat Volumes Climb

U.S. export inspections for soybeans and wheat saw a weekly uptick as of September 10, according to Department of Agriculture data. While soybean volumes climbed to 672,759 metric tons and wheat reached 456,720 tons, corn exports retreated, slipping to 1.53 million tons from the previous week's 1.67 million.

The latest USDA figures show soybean inspections rising significantly from the prior week’s 464,732 tons, though they remain well behind the 822,666 tons recorded during the same period last year. Wheat followed a similar pattern, posting a modest gain over the previous week’s 431,280 tons but trailing significantly behind last year's 758,391-ton benchmark.

Corn remains the most substantial export by volume despite the weekly decline, holding steady compared to year-earlier levels. Global demand remains concentrated in specific markets: China emerged as the primary destination for soybean shipments, while Mexico secured the top spot for corn. Japan and Mexico combined to serve as the leading buyers for U.S. wheat exports.
