Samson Sky Secures $80 Million to Launch Switchblade Production

A $80 million infusion from Dubai-based Matin Group has cleared the runway for Samson Sky to begin mass production of the Switchblade, a hybrid-electric vehicle capable of both highway travel and flight. The capital will fund a new 180,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the United States.

Samson Sky CEO Sam Bousfield confirmed the joint investment agreement marks a transition from experimental development to commercial scalability. The company, which successfully completed the vehicle's first flight in November 2023, currently holds interest from customers across 50 countries and every U.S. state. While the initial $80 million secures the necessary infrastructure, the firm intends to raise an additional $20 million to reach full production capacity.

The Switchblade, designed to address regional travel gaps of 200 to 500 miles, functions as a sports car that converts into an aircraft in three minutes. Because the Federal Aviation Administration classifies the vehicle within the experimental category, owners are required to participate in a one-week assembly program at the Samson Builder Assist Center to satisfy the 51% owner-build requirement. Mustafa Matin, CEO of the Dubai-based investment firm, noted that the partnership was driven by the potential for the vehicle to redefine regional mobility through disciplined engineering.
