The facility, formerly operated by ATI, will undergo extensive renovations to support an annual output of 260,000 tons of electrical steel. This material serves as the magnetic core for power transformers, a component currently in short supply across the United States. Flux Steel Works CEO Denny Wist noted that the company intends to leverage decades of industry experience to rapidly scale production and supply local manufacturers.

Securing a domestic supply chain for this steel has become a national priority, underscored by a presidential determination under the Defense Production Act earlier this year. With global prices for the metal doubling over the last half-decade, the Ohio plant aims to insulate the U.S. power grid from import volatility. Chairman Steven Stein emphasized that the initiative is designed to support the country's broader reindustrialization efforts, noting that the firm has already secured reservations for over 150,000 tons of future output.
