The Gallman site, located just over six miles from the company’s existing Crystal Springs plant, will eventually take over transformer production as the firm scales to meet surging electricity demand from data centers and industrial electrification. Construction is slated to begin late this year, with output scheduled to commence in 2029. Once the transition is complete, the original Crystal Springs facility will be repurposed for warehousing and training, ensuring a continued footprint in the region.

This investment aligns with the company’s wider strategy to shore up the American power grid, following recent expansion efforts in Virginia, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. Collectively, these initiatives represent a $1.5 billion commitment intended to shorten supply chains and bolster domestic energy security. Federal and state officials, including Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Governor Tate Reeves, have framed the move as a significant boost to national energy independence and regional economic growth.
