The platform, known as CMX, aims to replace fragmented student transportation systems with a unified, real-time interface. By connecting schools, families, and drivers, the software seeks to improve service reliability and operational transparency. According to Ritu Narayan, founder and CEO of Zum, the technology is intended to transform outdated logistics into a seamless experience that prioritizes educational access and parental peace of mind.

Fast Company’s annual competition evaluates entrants based on originality, user insight, and measurable business impact. This year, Zum joins a cohort of honorees including Google and Adidas. The Redwood City company currently operates in 19 states, providing mobility services to more than 6,500 schools. The full list of design award winners appears in the magazine's Fall issue.
