Safety Power Secures CARB Verification for Data Center Emission Control

California Air Resources Board regulators have granted a Level 3 Plus, Mark 5 verification to Safety Power’s cv-ecoCUBE system, marking the first time a data center aftertreatment provider has achieved this standard for standby emergency diesel generators by integrating particulate and nitrogen oxide controls into a single package.

The certification validates the company’s ability to combine diesel particulate filters with selective catalytic reduction and oxidation catalysts in a generator-agnostic design. By securing this status, the manufacturer offers an alternative compliance pathway that bypasses some of the traditional regulatory hurdles previously faced by data centers in the state.

Operators utilizing this verified system may see reduced operational expenses, as the certification can eliminate the need for independent third-party emission source testing. Furthermore, the design is backed by a 4,200-hour, five-year warranty following rigorous durability testing. While the verification streamlines the permitting process for facilities in California and regions mirroring its standards, the company advises operators to consult with air quality experts regarding the specific conditions outlined in the executive order.
