The funding functions as a modification to an existing agreement, specifically targeting the capacity for support equipment necessary to maintain the F-35 program. These resources will directly facilitate the establishment of new operation sites for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and international military partners participating in foreign military sales.
Operational activity will be heavily concentrated in El Segundo, California, which is slated to handle 90% of the project load. The remaining 10% of the work is designated for Fort Worth, Texas. Lockheed Martin aims to conclude all contract requirements by February 2031.
