Heeney Capital Resumes Venezuelan Aluminum Exports to U.S.

A cargo vessel carrying 15,000 tons of primary aluminum departed Venezuela for the United States on September 18, marking the first shipment of its kind in eight years. The delivery follows a strategic offtake agreement involving Heeney Capital, Mercuria Energy Group, and the state-owned Corporación Venezolana de Guayana.

This transaction signals a shift in commercial relations, operating under a U.S.-backed initiative designed to revitalize Venezuela’s mining and energy infrastructure. By securing this supply chain access, the partnership aims to stabilize the flow of critical materials into American industrial markets.

Henry Heeney, co-founder of Heeney Capital, framed the shipment as a proof of concept for the country’s reliability as a resource partner. His counterpart, Sean Pi, noted that the project is intended to foster economic growth while restoring direct trade links that had been dormant for nearly a decade. The firm intends to continue working with CVG Venalum to scale operations, viewing this initial delivery as the precursor to a wider wave of private-sector investment in the region.
