Palmetto Investment Consultants Moves $305 Million AUA to Cetera

Financial advisors John Sloop and John Black have transitioned their Rock Hill-based practice, Palmetto Investment Consultants, from LPL to Cetera’s Summit Financial Networks. The move brings approximately $305 million in assets under administration to the wealth hub, marking a homecoming for Sloop, who previously spent 13 years with the network.

Sloop cited the need for a more responsive partnership as the primary driver for the switch. By joining the Summit community, the team aims to leverage a boutique service model that aligns with their existing client engagement strategies. The practice, located near Charlotte, focuses heavily on retirement income planning, primarily serving long-tenured professionals from the energy and telecommunications sectors.

Beyond administrative support, the transition grants the team access to proprietary growth tools like Growth360 and the firm’s Regional Growth Team. For staff members Morgan Hinchen and Allison Grier, the shift provides a way to scale operations without sacrificing the small-office culture that defines their client relationships. According to Tom Halloran, Cetera’s advisor channel leader, the team’s education-first philosophy remains a key asset as they enter this next phase of growth.
