The pilot project, which spanned from late April through August 31, demonstrated the effectiveness of the Finnish-engineered insulation system. While external temperatures averaged 61.8°F, the sensors positioned directly beneath the protective layer recorded a stable average of 33.6°F. This thermal barrier allowed the snow to endure despite the extreme ambient heat.

Antti Lauslahti, CEO of Snow Secure, noted that the technology offers resorts a strategic buffer against unpredictable autumn weather. By preserving existing snowpack, Aspen Snowmass aims to reduce its dependency on energy-intensive early-season snowmaking. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to climate resilience, with the resort planning to use the data to determine future scaling across its slopes. The system, which combines insulation with an integrated rain cover, has already seen rapid adoption in North America, with over ten resorts implementing the technology in just two seasons.
